Marcello Lippi insists he’s had no contact with Lazio, and has “a lot of respect” for Stefano Pioli.

The former Italy CT was in the stands for Friday’s 2-0 defeat to Juventus, leading to speculation he could take over from the under-pressure Biancocelesti boss.

“Every week they have me at Madrid, Spain or Italy,” Lippi explained to Rai.

“I just said that I wanted to return to football, so now I’m liked to every side which is having some difficulty.

“He just needs to solve the current problems, to rediscover the calmness and courage. You’ll see that Lazio will return to doing what they did last year.”
