The respect between Ferguson and Lippi is mutual, as the Scotsman said he used Lippi’s Juve as a model for his United, telling them to emulate the Bianconeri’s will to win.

Lippi won five Scudetti in two spells at Juventus, as well as the Champions League, the Coppa Italia and the Intercontinental Cup.

He won the World Cup with Italy in 2006, before becoming the first Coach to win both the European and the Asian Champions League when he triumphed in the latter at Guangzhou Evergrande.

Ferguson spent over 20 years at Manchester United, winning 13 League titles, two Champions Leagues, five FA Cups, four League Cups and the Intercontinental Cup.

One of the most decorated Coaches in history, he also won the Scottish League with Aberdeen three times, as well as winning the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1983.
