Marcello Lippi believes Fiorentina are “here to stay” but Milan are “frightened and disoriented”.

The Viola have gone two points clear at the top of Serie A, while the Rossoneri were trashed 4-0 by Napoli, and the former Italy Coach gave his assessment of the weekend’s action.

“Fiorentina? They’re a team that I like,” Lippi told Radio 2.

“They’re a good squad of young players, with a Coach [Paulo Sousa] and club capable of keeping the team at the top.

“Sousa? I had him as a player [at Juventus], and we always talked about attacking the opponent’s midfield, and he’s brought that to his team, which is aggressive and has a clear idea of how to play.

“[Former Coach Vincenzo] Montella’s work also counts, their ability to dribble comes from three years of work done with him.

“I think they’re here to stay, because they’re young and well-coached.

“As for the others, Inter are still at the top, despite having changed so much. Roma and Juventus are coming back, while Napoli are very strong and playing good football.

“Milan? [Sinisa] Mihajlovic is a man of great depth, and an intelligent Coach. On the pitch the Rossoneri seem frightened and disoriented.

“I think it’s currently more of a mental issue than a tactical one.”
