The Viola saw their unbeaten run come to an end on Wednesday night in an extraordinary 4-3 thriller against Lazio.

That game saw both sides reduced to 10 men in the opening 15 minutes, so goalkeeper Marco Sportiello and defender German Pezzella are suspended today.

Milan Badelj and Cyril Thereau are still out of action, but Saponara returns in the trequartista role behind Chiesa and surprisingly Diego Falcinelli – against his old club – rather than Giovanni Simeone.

Sassuolo are six points clear of the drop zone following Wednesday’s fundamental 1-0 victory away to Hellas Verona.

They’re not quite safe yet, though, and go into this game without injured Stefano Sensi, Pol Lirola or Edoardo Goldaniga.

Khouma Babacar left Fiorentina for Sassuolo in January, but he is on the bench today.

Sassuolo's last success against Fiorentina came in a 4-3 thriller at the Stadio Franchi in May 2014, followed by three draws and four defeats, home and away.

Sassuolo: Consigli; Lemos, Acerbi, Peluso; Adjapong, Missiroli, Magnanelli, Duncan, Rogerio; Berardi, Politano

Fiorentina: Dragowski; Laurini, Milenkovic, Vitor Hugo, Maxi Olivera; Dabo, Benassi, Veretout; Saponara; Chiesa, Falcinelli
