The Rossoneri can recapture third place with a victory today, as Napoli were beaten by Juventus last night, but confidence was rocked by a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Genoa midweek.

Niang had been in doubt, as he was suffering from flu symptoms and running a temperature last night, but has recovered sufficiently to be in the starting XI.

He’s joined by Carlos Bacca and Suso, as ex-Pescara hitman Lapadula is on the bench.

There are nonetheless some changes, as Gustavo Gomez steps in for suspended Gabriel Paletta in defence and Jose Ernesto Sosa is preferred to Juraj Kucka.

Davide Calabria, Leonel Vangioni, Andrea Bertolacci, Luca Antonelli, Mati Fernandez and Riccardo Montolivo are unavailable.

Pescara have only managed one victory this season and that was handed to them by the courts when Sassuolo fielded an ineligible player.

Hugo Campagnaro sits out a ban, joining Norbert Gyomber, Valerio Verre, Jean-Christophe Bahebeck, Dario Zuparic and Davide Vitturini on the absentee list.

The Delfini are coached by former Milan right-back Massimo Oddo, who returns to San Siro for the first time as a Coach.

Pescara have only ever beaten Milan once, a 2-1 victory on December 30 1979, and lost the other 12 attempts, home and away in all competition. The Delfini scored just 11 goals in those meetings, conceding 40.

The last six meetings between these clubs have provided an extraordinary 33 goals, including a 6-1 Milan win and 5-4 thriller in 1992.

Milan: Donnarumma; Abate, Gomez, Romagnoli, De Sciglio; Sosa, Locatelli, Bonaventura; Niang, Bacca, Suso

Pescara: Bizzarri; Zampano, Coda, Fornasier, Crescenzi, Memushaj, Brugman, Aquilani, Mitrita, Benali, Caprari
