Lichtsteiner was speaking after tonight’s 1-0 win over Genoa, which allowed the Bianconeri to stay within a point of Napoli at the top of Serie A.

“It was important to claim the three points today, but also to respond immediately after a week of hard work.

“Obviously we want to win the Scudetto, we need to be hungry and we are.”

The Swiss international also spoke to Sky, and he was asked whether he’ll stay with the Old Lady beyond this season.

“I don’t know. I’m focused until June and then we can hope.

“The Champions League exclusion? There was a different reason last year. I took the Coach’s decision badly, but I understood his choice.

“I don’t give up after disappointment.”
