Gigi Lentini believes Angelo Ogbonna’s transfer from Torino to city rivals Juventus proves times have changed in Italian football.

“In my day, it would have been impossible for a player like Ogbonna to go from Torino to Juventus,” the former Granata winger told Tuttosport. “There would gave been a revolution.

“However, when an important offer arrives then it is important to quickly accept it.

“The economic inequality has surged exponentially since my playing days and football has turned into an industrial event.

“Torino, in later years, have not been able to count on huge funding as to compete at the highest levels. And costs have increased…”

Lentini, a former international winger, became the world’s most expensive footballer when Milan signed him from Torino in the summer of 1992 for £13m.

Centre-back Ogbonna cost the Turin giants €13m, plus a further €2m in bonuses.
