The Nerazzurri surrendered the Serie A lead last weekend, losing to Sassuolo at San Siro, a result which saw Napoli leapfrog the Beneamata, and Juventus draw level.

“It’s not a coincidence that we’re there,” Mancini acknowledged in his Press conference ahead of the trip to Atalanta.

“I said a long time ago that Juve would be back, that they were much stronger and would recover. The top of the table could change every Sunday.

“There are now 19 games to go, and we have to be good and show concentration just as we did in the first half of the season.

“I hope that Inter can repeat what we did in the first round in the return games.

“Other teams are better equipped, but we’ve always been either first or second so that means we have value.

“Maybe a team which starts to win without thinking about it can reach important objectives at the end. We have to stay calm, and just be more focused.”

Mancini was then asked what he hopes to see from his team tomorrow.

“The same heart that we showed on Sunday, but hopefully with a different result. We knew the last game would be like that.

“We lost undeservedly against Sassuolo. That’s football, we have to accept it, considering our excellent first half of the campaign and try to improve.

“Who will play tomorrow? We still have another training session, so I’ll just say [goalkeeper] Samir [Handanovic].”

Finally, the Coach was asked whether Andrea Ranocchia leaving would mean a foray into the transfer market.

“If we decide to consider offers, we’ll take another central defender. One with his own characteristics.”
