Lazio are reportedly plotting their strategy to offer Pedro a suitable deal to extend his stay at the club after talks over a renewal have already been underway for a few weeks.

The sticky situation is that Pedro will have to personally pay his former employers and rivals Roma a fee if he renews with Lazio due to an apparent clause in the World Cup-winning winger’s contract.

As per Il Corriere dello Sport, Claudio Lotito has every intention of keeping Pedro on into next season after a successful two seasons under Maurizio Sarri and the desire for Pedro to stay in Rome is apparently mutual.

Lazio are prepared to offer Pedro a one-year extension to his current deal, with a slight increase of wages compared to what he currently earns.

According to the report, the 33-year-old will be offered an annual salary of €2.2 million, up €200,000 from his contract between 2021 and 2023, which would cover ‘a percentage’ of the fees he would have to pay to Roma.
