Luiz Felipe and Patric are both set to leave Lazio in the summer and Francesco Acerbi’s future is also in doubt, meaning a defensive overhaul is on the horizon in Rome.

The Brazilian talent is set to leave the club after six years in the summer, when his contract expires, in order to join Real Betis on a free transfer. Patric is also leaving on a free, joining his teammate in the move to Spain as he looks to complete a move to Valencia. For Acerbi, his fractured relationship with the fans and struggles adapting to Maurizio Sarri’s system make a departure fairly likely.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio are planning to overhaul their defence in the summer, signing players that are more suitable to Sarri’s 4-3-3 system. One of these is Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli and the Biancocelesti are working quickly to try and close out a deal for the Italian centre back soon.

Other targets will also need to be pursued and one of these is Hellas Verona’s Nicolo Casale, who seemed like a concrete option in the January transfer window until a move never materialised.

  1. Acerbi will and should stay. Patric and Luiz Felipe can go, if Romagnoli and Casale com in. That´s it.
