Coach Stefano Pioli believes Lazio have been punished for reaching the Coppa Italia final, after the game was moved.

The final with Juventus was due to take place on June 7, but the Bianconeri’s qualification for the Champions League final means it will now be played on Wednesday.

That has created some fixture congestion for the Aquile, who face Sampdoria tomorrow and Roma next weekend in their push for a Champions League place.

That has created some fixture congestion for the Aquile, who face Sampdoria tomorrow and Roma next weekend in their push for a Champions League place.

“We wanted to finish the season on June 7,” Pioli pointed out at his Press conference ahead of the Sampdoria clash.

“We haven’t been allowed to. You shouldn’t be penalised for playing in a cup final. We’ve deserved second place, but we have to prove it on the pitch.

“Since Wednesday [when Juventus progressed] our schedule has changed. We’ve done so much, and the team deserves positive results. We’ll do our best to get them.

“We can’t control these things, so we won’t waste our energy on it. If the Coppa was scheduled for June 7 then there must have been a reason.

“Juve have a bit of an advantage, having already won the League, but we still have a lot to play for.

“I think the right thing to do would be to move the derby [with Roma, next Sunday]. When there’s a Europa League match the next game is always postponed.

“All teams should be playing on a level field, moving it would be fair.”

Meanwhile, the Coach has named his squad for the Sampdoria fixture.

Lazio squad to face Sampdoria: Berisha, Strakosha, Guerrieri, Basta, Braafheid, Cavanda, Ciani, De Vrij, Gentiletti, Novaretti, Radu, Felipe Anderson, Candreva, Cataldi, Ledesma, Lulic, Mauri, Parolo, Onazi, Keita, Djordjevic, Klose, Perea
