Coach Stefano Pioli says Lazio “have to play in Europe, and we need to get there”.

The Biancocelesti made it to the Champions League with a third-place finish last season, but currently sit 10th in Serie A.

“Our goal is clear,” Pioli explained in his Press conference ahead of the visit of Carpi.

“We work for a prestigious club that has to play in Europe, and we need to get there. We still have a lot of chances to play our cards.

“We’re behind in the League, and all the teams ahead of us are strong. It won’t be easy, but I believe in my team.

“We have what it takes to come back and win as many games as possible. From tomorrow, the Coppa Italia and the Europa League are concrete objectives, and we can do it.”

Carpi are battling at the bottom of the table, but Pioli is not expecting an easy ride against the Biancorossi tomorrow.

“Tomorrow will be a complicated game from a tactical point of view. They’re at their best on the counter-attack.

“Against Juventus they lost while scoring two goals, and had the chance to make it 3-3. It will require great spirit, we’re Lazio, we’re playing at home and we want to win.

“The system we’ll use will be the same as the last few games, 4-3-3. We’ll play with three midfielders and three strikers.

“We have to get back to the top positions, taking it a game at a time. We have to start tomorrow, putting money in the bank for the League.

“The cup competitions are important to us too, but we have to think about the game tomorrow.”
