Luis Alberto will meet Maurizio Sarri today and must provide an explanation for arriving one week late for Lazio‘s pre-season.

The Spaniard was expected to join his teammates in Rome one week ago, but he didn’t show up, irritating the club that fined him.

New Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri said the player’s management is ‘down to the club’ and ensured there would be ‘no problems’ if the player provides an explanation for his behaviour.

The former Liverpool joined his teammates at Auronzo di Cadore yesterday evening and, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, he will meet his new coach today.

According to the report, Luis Alberto informed Lazio last week that he wants to leave the club, but the Biancocelesti demand at least €60m to sell him. Atletico Madrid and Milan have been linked with the 28-year-old, but both clubs are not willing to match Lazio’s economic demands.

Luis Alberto joined Lazio from Liverpool in a €4m deal in 2016. He has scored 35 goals and delivered 48 assists in 175 appearances with the Biancocelesti.
