Alvaro Gonzalez warns the other sides chasing third place that Lazio “are practically in the Champions League” with three wins.

The Biancocelesti have lost their last two on the bounce, but remain in the precious third berth under pressure from Udinese, Napoli, Roma and Inter.

“We really believe in third place,” Gonzalez told Lazio Style Radio. “Up until a couple of games ago we even thought about fighting for the Scudetto.

“It’s true that there are a lot of sides near to use, but we have played many games at the top level to get here and now must hold on to it.

“We’ve got to get out of this bad moment and rediscover the path that takes us to third place. We’ve had such a great season, now we need to win three or four consecutively to push away the chasing pack.

“I think if we do that, then Lazio are practically in the Champions League.”

The player, nicknamed ‘Tata,’ feels the Biancocelesti can count on great strength in depth despite an injury crisis.

“I work hard in training and we have many quality players who try to get into the starting XI each week. If I step on to the field on Sunday, then I’ll give my all, but there are no guaranteed starters here.”
