Lazio have reportedly opened talks with Championship side Plymouth Argyle to explore a late move for winger Morgan Whittaker.

The Biancocelesti have a history of leaving it late to complete business in the transfer market and this month proved no different, with the team bringing in no reinforcements up to this stage. They instead considered a long list of possible options but failed to make a decisive move.

Lazio recently contacted Sunderland to send in a €16m offer for Jack Clarke, which was declined as the winger has a €25m price tag. Maurizio Sarri’s side continued looking around the Championship for alternative options and now have come forward again.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport via TMW, Lazio opened talks with Plymouth Argyle on Monday to explore a possible move for Whittaker, who has scored 15 goals and provided six assists in 28 Championship games this term.

The 23-year-old Englishman spent the second half of last season on loan with the Pilgrims before making a permanent move in the summer for around €1.15m, signing a four-year contract.
