Lazio director Igli Tare confirms they have ‘received an offer from Russia’ for striker Vedat Muriqi, believed to be CSKA Moscow.

“We have received an offer from Russia, but I cannot say any more than that,” Tare told Sport 24.

According to various reports, the offer is €2.5m for the loan with obligation to buy for a further €8m.

The centre-forward was signed for €20m from Fenerbahce in September 2020, but has scored only two goals in 48 competitive matches and was this week voted the second biggest flop in Serie A behind Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Muriqi is so far down the pecking order under Maurizio Sarri that when Ciro Immobile is unavailable, the coach prefers to use Pedro or Felipe Anderson as a False 9 rather than start the Kosovo international.

The 27-year-old has also been linked with Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United and Hull City.

Lazio are forced to sell before they can bring in reinforcements better suited to Sarri’s style of football.

  1. Big mistake selling him, with Dybala, Dusan and him all potentially leaving Serie A, the league is falling apart
