The bitter rivalry between Roma and Lazio continued to play out online with the Aquile’s response to Kim Kardashian wearing a Giallorossi jersey.
Roma’s social media team were pleased to see reality TV star Kardashian photographed with the 1997-98 season edition of their club shirt and thanked her.
Not to be outdone, Lazio’s Twitter account hit back by pointing out that image had “unblocked a memory” from that particular season.
That was the campaign when Lazio famously beat Roma all four times in their meetings between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
The Biancocelesti, led by Roberto Mancini, dominated their rivals across the Eternal City and relished the situation.
After the third victory, the ultras in the Curva Nord unfurled a banner that read: ‘Smile, you are on Candid Camera!’
When they made it four out of four, the follow-up banner read: ‘… and the jokes keep coming.’
It is this banner that Lazio posted on their social media as a response to the Kardashian jersey.
