Atalanta have postponed their departure from Bergamo ahead of tomorrow’s match against Lazio, with a possible COVID outbreak threatening the squad.

La Dea were supposed to depart from Bergamo this evening in order to travel to the Italian capital, but they have decided to postpone their departure to tomorrow morning, ahead of the evening’s match against the Biancocelesti.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, the Atalanta squad underwent a round of PCR COVID tests today, and the results will be returned tomorrow morning. The club fear that a number of players will test positive for the virus, putting their match against Lazio tomorrow in doubt.

Under the new protocols drawn up by Lega Serie A, a team must have less than nine positive cases of COVID in their squad in order to play a match, out of the 25 registered players.

The situation will become clearer tomorrow morning, but for now there’s a genuine chance that the match between the two sides will be called off.
