The match between Bologna and Inter that was postponed earlier this month will be played following a decision by the sporting judge.

The game, which was scheduled for January 6, was called off due to a serious COVID outbreak in the Rossoblu squad, leaving the Nerazzurri squad alone at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. Due to failing to turn up, Bologna risked suffering a 3-0 default loss, but this will not happen.

As announced in a statement from Lega Serie A, sporting judge Gerardo Mastrandrea has decided not to penalise Bologna for failing to play the match against Inter earlier this month, and so the match will be played at a later date this season, meaning the Nerazzurri will not be awarded the 3-0 default win.

The omicron variant of COVID caused a number of matches at the start of 2022 to be called off, with AtalantaTorino, SalernitanaVenezia and FiorentinaUdinese all being scrapped due to various outbreaks in the squad.
