Lazio and Italy striker Ciro Immobile has suffered a new injury which will force him out of action in the next two matches and leaves him in doubt for the Rome derby before the international break, reports Gazzetta.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Immobile has suffered an injury to the flexor in his right thigh. Immobile got injured during Friday’s 1-0 win over Napoli at the Stadio Maradona and didn’t train with his teammates on Sunday.

According to the report, Immobile will undergo new exams in the coming days but will need to rest for a while now.

He won’t be available for the home Conference League game against AZ Alkmaar on Tuesday and will likely remain out of action in the next Serie A match with Bologna this coming weekend.

According to Gazzetta, the new injury means Immobile is in doubt for the Rome derby in two weeks, while Sky Sport Italia maintains the experienced striker could be back against Bologna.

Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri will provide further updates during a pre-match press conference on Monday at 13.00 GMT.

Immobile, 33, has missed 10 games due to injuries this season but has scored 11 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions.
