According to Sport in Spain, Inter and Milan are interested in Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti, currently on loan at Lecce.

The France international is getting regular playing time at the Stadio Via Del Mare, helping Marco Baroni’s side keep a safe distance from the relegation zone, which sees Hellas Verona nine points below the Salentini.

Sport quotes a report from Gazzetta claiming Inter are interested in the French defender and adds Milan are also monitoring the 2018 World Cup winner. Umtiti is not in Barcelona’s plans for next season.

The Spanish paper claims Barcelona don’t want to loan the player out again next season but are open to letting him leave on a free transfer to save money from his salary with a contract expiring in June 2026.

Umtiti is happy in Lecce but still hasn’t taken a decision about his next club, considering that the Giallorossi do not have an option to make his move permanent. According to the report, he would strongly consider offers from clubs playing Champions League football in 2023-24.

Ligue 1 side Lyon, where Umtiti started his professional career, are also among the admirers of the 29-year-old, according to Sport.
