There is good news for both Lazio and Italy, as it’s reported tests showed no serious damage to Ciro Immobile’s ankle, so he could potentially be back this weekend.

The striker limped off during last night’s 4-0 Coppa Italia quarter-final defeat to Milan at San Siro following a knock to the ankle from Pierre Kalulu.

There were concerns it could be bad news not just for the Aquile, but even for Italy and their upcoming World Cup play-off against North Macedonia next month.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport report tests showed nothing serious, and while the right foot is sore, he can still move his ankle.

Immobile will therefore test it out in training tomorrow and could be in the starting XI in Saturday’s Serie A encounter with Bologna.

It remains to be seen if he will be risked in that situation, especially as Lazio have a Europa League play-off with FC Porto on Thursday February 17.

6 thought on “Lazio and Italy relief as Immobile ankle injury not serious”
  1. I Hope so, but with balotelli in the side he could well end up second choice.
He needs to step up for important games and be decisive

  2. I do not mind Mario having this chance. He is on form and I would take him over Belotti and Kean at the moment. He has to just keep his head down and be ready to come on if we need him. Most likely Ciro gets the start. Balotelli not a bad option to bring on in the second half if we need him. He is made for games like this. Man for the occasion.

  3. Ciro’s serious injury would have been a disaster for Lazio, because they don’t have substitute for him. So this is really good news.
I really hope that Balo has finally grown up, he almost ruined his entire career with his childish behavior. But Ciro is number 1 striker to Mancini. Balo is only backup for Ciro.
