The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Barcelona after his contributions in the title race this campaign.

Lautaro ended the first half on 10 goals in 18 Serie A games and said the rumours about the Blaugrana only means that he is performing well for the Nerazzurri.

“Today, I defend the Inter shirt,” he said. “I am very happy here, people love me. If there are these kinds of rumours, it only means that I am doing well.

“I must continue down this path. It’s the mentality I have when I go to sleep. I am very calm, very happy and feel comfortable at Inter.”

The Argentine admitted that his colleagues in the national side have set the bar high for him.

“What I do at Inter is useful for the national team,” he told TyC Sports. “I have to work every day to be able to wear the Argentina shirt.

“[Coach Lionel] Scaloni has faith in me, he picks me every time. That’s very important. The national team is a very important step for me. To play with [Lionel] Messi and [Sergio] Agüero is a great joy. They make the Argentinian football grow.

“What they are showing with their great careers, it’s incredible. I hope to be able to get what they have achieved.”

Despite being knocked out of the Champions League, Martinez has revealed that their objectives will help them develop.

“We failed to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League, but we know that we have some very important targets,” he said. “We are doing very well in Serie A, there’s the Europa League and we have progressed in the Coppa Italia. There are still objectives that will help us improve.”

About Conte arrived last summer and the starlet has reaped the rewards from the new changes at the Giuseppe Meazza

“A lot has changed, a new coach arrived, one who lives for the game in a very special way,” he said. “He has given us so much from his first day here.

“He convinced all the players and the people who work here to give their all. And the results are evident.

“With this coach, I have grown a lot and that’s why I enjoy this moment that I’m living right now.”

With Romelu Lukaku, he has created one of the best strike forces in Italy and claimed the Belgian “is very important” for him.

“Lukaku helps me a lot, he is a player who is very important,” he said. “Both on and off the pitch. I am very happy to have met this type of person and player.”

Inter are two points behind Juventus in Serie A and have kept the Bianconeri on their toes during the first half of the season.

“Juventus are a team that plays very good football, they have great players,” he said. “We want to do our best; the League is among the targets we have set for ourselves.”
