Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is reportedly getting closer to signing off on a new long-term contract extension off the back of a marvellous debut campaign in Serie A, in which he helped Napoli to their first league title in over 30 years and took home the division’s MVP award as a result.

According to multiple reports in Sport Mediaset and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 22-year-old has a contract offer on the table, which both outlets claim he is ready to accept.

As reported on Thursday afternoon, Kvaratskehlia is set to be offered a new five-year deal, which will run until the summer of 2028, with a salary increase which should earn the Georgian somewhere in the region of €3m per season.

At present, it is thought that Kvaratskhelia takes home roughly €1.2m per season based off the initial contract he signed with Napoli in the summer of 2022.

His increased salary would make him the fourth-highest earner of Napoli’s current squad of players, behind Victor Osimhen, Hirving Lozano and Piotr Zielinski.

Sport Mediaset reports that it was Kvaratskhelia, through his agent, who had requested a salary increase, which he and the club hope will help fend off immediate interest from foreign clubs thinking about making an audacious effort to lure him away from the Stadio Maradona this summer.
