Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia apologised to the supporters and made a promise after their Champions League quarter-final loss to Milan.

The 22-year-old Georgian winger could only watch on in horror as the Rossoneri edged out a 2-1 aggregate win over the Partenopei in the final eight stage of the competition, breaking Neapolitan hearts at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Kvaratskhelia has been one of the stars of the show at Napoli this season but was kept quiet in the Champions League quarter-final tie, failing to contribute to a goal in either match.

Writing on his Instagram page, Kvaratskhelia reacted after Napoli’s loss to Milan, apologising to the club’s supporters.

“It is hard for me to see your eyes full of tears, realizing that I couldn’t bring you happiness. I will do my best to learn from today’s experience.

“I am deeply sorry and absolutely grateful for your support that I feel every second! I love you all and promise that we will come back stronger! There are many matches ahead, so the dream goes on..”

With no cup competitions left to play, Napoli will now focus their efforts on enjoying their run in Serie A, ready to lift their first Scudetto in over three decades. A huge party is expected in the Campania capital once the title has been mathematically confirmed.
