Juventus‘ appeal hearing against a 15-point deduction takes place on April 19, 2023, starting at 13:30 GMT+1 (14:30 local time). Here’s all you need to know.

It’s a crucial day for the Old Lady who hope to have a 15-point penalty revoked. The appeal hearing at the CONI Collegio Di Garanzia takes place in Rome today and will start in the early afternoon.

It will be chaired by President Gabrielle Palmieri Sandulli along with sections Presidents Vito Branca, Attilio Zimatore, Massimo Zaccheo and Dante Alessio.

Former Juventus directors, including Fabio Paratici, and ex-club President and vice-president Andrea Agnelli and Pavel Nedved, have also appealed against lengthy bans and a verdict is expected today although it may take a little longer to know the outcome.

The first thing to know is that CONI Collegio di Garanzia bases its decisions on the legitimacy of the appeal and not on merit, so it just intervenes if the rule of law is violated. Today’s hearing will last from two to three hours and there are three possible scenarios.

First: Juventus’ and their directors’ appeals are rejected. In this case, nothing changes and the 15-point penalty is confirmed.

Second: The club win the appeal, the point penalty is revoked and so are the bans for ex-directors.

Third: The club ‘partially’ win the appeal. In this case, the case goes back to the FIGC court, which needs to clarify better the reasons for the point deduction and bans which are put on hold until a new verdict arrives. As a consequence, and just if the case goes back to FIGC, the new ruling could come with a reduced point penalty for Juventus and shorter bans for their directors. It’s an unlikely scenario but one of the options on the table which would further stretch the saga.
