Cristian Kouamé was still feeling positive despite Fiorentina’s failure to find a winner in the 1-1 draw with Juventus today.

The 24-year-old Ivorian winger put in a good shift in Florence this afternoon, scoring the equaliser to secure a point for the home side. Fiorentina will be the more frustrated of the two sides, looking as if they should’ve taken home all three points against an uninspiring Juventus.

Speaking to DAZN, Kouame first discussed what it means to score in such a big game.

“I really wanted to, when I left I wanted to come back. Since I stayed, scoring in this match means a lot to me.”

He touched on his celebration with teammate Johnathan Ikoné.

“He’s going through a bit of a tough moment. I wanted to be close to him because I’ve been through a similar moment myself.”

The 24-year-old brushed off Luka Jovic’s missed penalty.

“It happens, missing a penalty, next game we’ll try to win.”

Kouame commented on the importance of feeling the backing of coach Vincenzo Italiano.

“When I came back I didn’t think I would stay, but I’ve been working and the coach is giving me confidence. He’s helping me a lot, even off the pitch, and it means a lot to me.”

Finally, Kouame discussed his personal goals for the season.

“This year I don’t want to think, I just want to have fun.”

The 24-year-old winger spent last season on loan with Belgian side Anderlecht and looked set to depart again this summer, but a move never materialised, leaving him in Florence. Kouame did not look particularly convincing in previous seasons for Fiorentina, but he’s started this season in a much more positive fashion.
