Former Lazio striker Miroslav Klose has announced his retirement, and will take up a coaching role with the German national team.

The 38-year-old spent five seasons with the Biancocelesti, scoring 64 goals in 170 games and winning the Coppa Italia in 2013.

Klose also had successful spells with Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen, but is perhaps best known for his exploits with his country.

The striker hit 71 goals in 137 international caps, winning the World Cup in 2014 and becoming the top-scorer in the history of the competition.

After leaving Lazio at the end of his contract, Klose initially planned to keep playing but today the DFB has announced he’ll have a coaching role with Germany.
