Frank de Boer laments “this project needed more time” having been sacked by Inter after 14 games.

The Coach replaced Roberto Mancini over the summer, making his debut in the first game of the season against Chievo.

However, he got off to a very poor start, losing seven of the matches he was in charge for, and today he was given his marching orders.

“Too bad it ended like this,” De Boer posted on his official Twitter account, which he shares with his twin brother Ronald.

“This project needed more time to be carried out. I want to thank all the fans for all the support you’ve given me over these months.

“Forza Inter.”

Former Lazio Coach Stefano Pioli is favourite to replace the Dutchman, but youth team Coach Stefano Vecchi will be in charge for Thursday’s game against Southampton in the Europa League.

Notably, De Boer did not thank the club or players in his statement, only the Inter fans.
