Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reveals he gave a present to Carlo Ancelotti before the Champions League Final last year: ‘Perhaps, he has one for me this time.’

Klopp’s Liverpool and Ancelotti’s Real Madrid meet at Anfield on Tuesday at 20.00 GMT in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

They were the Champions League Finalists in 2021-22 and Klopp is looking forward to meeting Ancelotti again despite the outcome of their last meeting.

“Carlo is one of the best I’ve ever faced, I adore him,” the German coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“He is an amazing man who has had a fantastic career but has always remained humble. He is a great person, and I look forward to meeting him again. I also gave him a present the last time; perhaps he has one for me this time.”

Ancelotti has become the first coach to win the Champions League four times and the first to win the domestic title in each of Europe’s top five leagues. His contract with Real Madrid expires in 2024.

The ex-Milan midfielder and coach has recently been linked with the Brazil job but insisted that he is not considering leaving the Bernabeu until the end of his contract unless the La Liga giants sack him.
