Simon Kjaer highlighted Milan’s issues in their disappointing 3-0 friendly loss to PSV, underlining how further work is needed ahead of the Serie A restart.

The Rossoneri currently sit eight points behind league leaders Napoli heading into the second half of the campaign and they’ll be keen to make up for lost ground in January. Stefano Pioli’s side have looked strong this season but injuries to key figures like Mike Maignan have reduced their capabilities a little.

Milan suffered a tough 3-0 loss to PSV in their final friendly of 2022, giving them something to consider ahead of their first game of the new year against Salernitana on January 4.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Kjaer first reacted to Milan’s defeat to PSV.

“We made too many technical mistakes, it’s not what we wanted. We’ll improve by the 4th. It’s not a question of concentration or maturity, I saw the whole team working in all the training sessions. In the last three games we lost, this will be changed.”

He reflected on what 2022 meant for the Rossoneri.

“We’ll do everything to get as many points as possible. We still have everything to play for, we are Milan, we won the Scudetto this year, I’m sure the fans will be with us until the end.”

Milan have a few key clashes in January, facing Roma on January 8, Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana final on January 18 and Lazio on January 24.
