Sami Khedira says Juventus are ‘one of the few clubs in the world’ on the same level as Real Madrid.

The German international has joined the Bianconeri on a free transfer from the Spanish giants, and was officially presented to fans and media today.

“As you know, I’ve come from Real Madrid, and there aren’t many clubs in the world which are on the same level,” Khedira told the assembled media.

“Of course, Juve are one of them. It’s a club with great history, with great, passionate fans, and an excellent structure to build great teams.

“Just knowing who has been part of this great club – players like Alessandro Del Piero, Roberto Baggio, Andrea Pirlo, Didier Deschamps, Zidane, Nedved, Michel Platini, Jurgen Kohler and of course Dino Zoff – fills me with even more pride.

“I could go on naming names of course, but I’m sure you get the sense of what I mean. I promise the utmost commitment to continuing the great history of this club.

“Fino alla fine [‘until the end’, the club’s motto], Forza Juventus.”

The World Cup winner also declared he is not afraid of comparisons to Andrea Pirlo, who has left the Old Lady after four successful seasons.

“It’s wonderful to be compared to Pirlo, he’s a fantastic player, he was a key part of his teams and Italian football in general for a long time.

“I’m a player who needs a bit of freedom – yes, to attack, but also to defend. I’ve already talked to [Massimiliano] Allegri, I’ll play where the Coach wants. I’m available.”
