New Juventus signing Sami Khedira denies Serie A has declined in recent years – ‘its a huge honour to play in this League’.
The former Real Madrid man has moved to the Turin giants on a free transfer, and doesn’t see the switch as a step down from La Liga.
“I wouldn’t say Italian football is in a negative period,” Khedira insisted as he was officially presented.
“I think outside of the country, the image of Italian football has always been positive, that’s why I chose to come to this League.

“I think outside of the country, the image of Italian football has always been positive, that’s why I chose to come to this League.
“I think it’s a huge honour to play in this League. There are other big teams, it’s a very difficult League with a lot of big teams.
“It’s very tactically difficult, I wouldn’t say it’s inferior to other leagues.”
The German international also spared a few words for Real Madrid, denying he had been unhappy with Los Merengues.
“There was no stress with Real Madrid. I thought about it, and having spent five wonderful years at Real Madrid I decided I needed a new challenge.
“For me, Juventus is one of those challenges, it’s a huge honour for me to be here, they’re the same level as Real Madrid.
“They’ve played at the top for many years, and it was a relatively easy decision.
“I checked with [Alvaro] Morata to see how he felt about the club, it was just a simple question, I already had great information regarding Juve.”
