Milan have reportedly begun talks to extend Franck Kessié’s contract and want to replace Hakan Calhanoglu with Hakim Ziyech or Dani Ceballos.

The Rossoneri don’t want to see Kessié walk away from the club as a free agent next season.

Gigio Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu have left the San Siro for nothing this summer, and with Kessié’s contract expiring in one year, the Diavoli are already working to tie down their midfield star to a new contract.

However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have offered a new €4m-a-year deal, while Kessié wants more than €5m per season.

The Rossoneri need to replace Calhanoglu, who is undergoing his medicals with Inter.

Chelsea’s Ziyech is on top of the Diavoli’s shopping list, but the Blues signed the attacking midfielder for €40m in 2020 and don’t want to sell the 28-year-old for cheap after just one season.

The player’s €6m-a-year salary could also be an obstacle for the Serie A giants who are planning to sign the former Ajax man on loan with an option to buy.

Real Madrid’s midfielder Dani Ceballos is the No.1 alternative to Ziyech. Milan and Real Madrid are on very good terms and are also negotiating Brahim Diaz’s return to the San Siro on loan with an option to buy.
