Christian Eriksen congratulated his teammates with an Instagram story after Denmark qualified for the last 16 at Euro 2020.

The Scandinavians beat Russia 4-1 in the third game of the group stage and booked their place in the last 16 where they will face Wales.

Eriksen watched the game from home and sent a social media message to his teammates after the final whistle.

The Inter star shared a picture of Sampdoria midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard celebrating after scoring the first goal of the night, adding clapping emojis and Denmark’s flags.

Atalanta midfielder Joakim Maehle also hit the target against Russia last night and dedicated his goal to Eriksen.

The Inter midfielder had a defibrillator implanted last week after suffering cardiac arrest on the pitch in Denmark’s debut game at Euro 2020.

The 29-year-old was given urgent CPR on the pitch and stabilised at the hospital.

The former Tottenham star will undergo further medical examinations in Milan in the coming weeks, but his career in Serie A could be over.

Italian authorities do not allow play any contact sport with a heart defibrillator implanted as any contact or hit could break the device.
