The Rossoneri went out of the Coppa Italia semi-final on away goals to Juventus, but resume their Serie A season next week against Lecce.

“It’s going to be a very complicated game, so we must do much better than we did against Juve,” Kessie told Sport Mediaset. “Lecce are on home turf and really fired up.

“We are in the running for a place in Europe, it’s all very tight in the table. We’ve got to pick up points in every match to take Milan as high as possible, playing every game as if it was a Cup Final.

“It wasn’t easy for us staying locked up for all that time, so now we’re really fired up and raring to get back on the field. Playing behind closed doors takes some getting used to, but we have to keep doing it until there’s no risk of anyone getting sick.”

The Ivorian has been linked with a move away from San Siro this summer, but made his intentions clear.

“I’ve been here for three years and I feel at home with Milan. I’m happy to be here. We must all fight to get Milan back to the top.”

Kessie spared a thought for former Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso, who won the Coppa Italia with Napoli last night.

“I am very happy for him and glad he is experiencing a moment of joy after so much sadness.”

Gattuso’s sister passed away from a long illness earlier this month.
