Franck Kessie has reportedly avoided any serious damage after his injury at the Africa Cup of Nations and should be back in training with Milan from Monday.

The midfielder lasted just 29 minutes of the Round of 16 match against Egypt when he limped off visibly distraught after a knock to the ribs and hip.

There were fears of a lesion or micro-fracture, but MilanNews.it report the tests came back negative for any serious damage.

He is already feeling much better and the bruising is going down.

The Ivory Coast were knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations, but he has been given permission to postpone his return to Italy until the weekend.

Kessie can therefore resume training with his Rossoneri teammates at Milanello from Monday and should make his comeback in the Derby della Madonnina against Inter next Saturday.

The 25-year-old has scored five goals with one assist in his 21 competitive appearances for Stefano Pioli’s side so far this season.

  1. On the one hand I don’t feel like seeing him wearing our jersey anymore, on the other we still totally need him, even if he’s not even as good as last year. So if we’re not gonna sell him we have to use him in every single match. I just hope he won’t walk around to avoid injuries.

  2. I want him right behind Ibra like his last game with us, makes for a strong middle of the pitch, and then, if Tomori makes it back we have a shot……..but one weak link……Romagnoli, ugh

  3. @DB Milan. We can’t call him that. He went and complained. Xenophobic?? Ma dai!!! I like everyone. Just don’t bring your plastic to Italian football. Premier league is the place for that. Come and visit basiglio!! You can then properly ‘pretend’ you LOVE Milan.

  4. LOL can the “Italian” not find an Italian site? This site is English. I know, I know “bloody foreigners”, eh Rosie?

  5. @DB Milan.

Aw yes, of course. It’s always good to keep tabs on multiple sources of media when it comes to football.
foreigners? This is a message for plastics. There are thousands of ‘foreigners’ going to Milan games away and at home. When I went to Anfield, there were people from all backgrounds there for the love of Milan.

  6. @Milan Fan

More drivel from the culture less. Can’t even say where he’s from but hides behind paragraphs. Not closer to civilisation though.

  7. @DB Milan. Who is your local team, fella? Obviously I have to follow and back Milano city fc, but it would be interested who is your second team.

  8. oh come on, we all know kessie don’t want to extend his contract.. get over it and move on!! yes we are all irritated by his decisions just like how donnaruma gone, but it’s not like we are weak in the league.. milan still in second position and still fight for the title.. why are you the so called milan fans lamenting your players too much? at the starts of the season you all said oh we got brahim ready for milan, now many of you said we need new attacking midfielder just because of his declining perfomances.. why don’t you all support him instead so that he can regain his peak performances!? now some of you criticized the signing of lazetic, saying how he comes from an amateur serbian league.. bruh, let me remind you that milan makes the star, not buying an already shined star.. kaka, pirlo, gattuso are all unknown before they became stars and legends for milan.. now we have saelemaekers, brahim, messias, tonali, dani malda, fik, mike and even theo.. support them when they are win AND even support them more when they are lose!!

Agree about Diaz for sure. He’s been cast aside by some fans which is a little premature for me given he had covid and has been tryong to pick up form since then. I like him and hope he gets another chance next season.
