Roma midfielder Seydou Keita reveals he played Bologna and Barcelona “on one leg”.

The Giallorossi were thrashed 6-1 by the Catalan in November, having drawn at Bologna in the previous game. Keita was singled-out for criticism, but was then out of action until January.

It has been suggested that the dismissal of Rudi Garcia and the arrival of Luciano Spalletti has revived Keita, but the Ivorian insists his injury was the reason for his poor form.

“Not much has changed with me personally,” Keita explained to ultimouomo.

“Spalletti is very demanding with all us players, but not with me in particular. What’s changed for me is that I had two bad games, in Bologna and Barcelona, where I was playing on one leg.

“I wasn’t expected to play in those games, because I felt such pain. It even hurt when driving, but circumstances forced the Coach to play me.

“After that some took the opportunity to criticise me, and now it seems like Spalletti changed me.

“If it’s true that he’s demanding and tactically very good, above all I have two legs now.”
