January may well be a different matter and there are several interesting options open to Napoli.
The prime candidate is Fiorentina striker Kalinic, the Croatia international who was already in advanced negotiations for this transfer over the summer before they secured Milik.
While the Viola refused to let him go then, they could be tempted to release Kalinic mid-season if Inter hand over Jovetic on loan with option to buy, according to Radio Crc.
The 28-year-old has scored two goals in eight competitive games this season and his form still looks a long way off that shown during his first few Serie A weeks.
Other alternatives for Napoli include Genoa centre-forward Pavoletti, who himself is still out of action with an injury, and Zaza from West Ham United.
Zaza joined the Hammers over the summer on a €5m loan with option to buy from Juventus that will become mandatory after a certain number of appearances, reported to be between 10 and 14.
The Premier League club is having second thoughts and Zaza could be sent back to Juve in January, then loaned on to Napoli to rediscover his form.
