Juventus will make a January move for Genoa striker Luca Toni after Fabio Quagliarella suffered a potentially serious injury.

Toni was already being linked with the Old Lady before Quagliarella fell in agony after only three minutes of yesterday's 4-1 loss to Parma.

The summer signing from Napoli is expected to undergo tests later today to reveal the full extent of the injury, but it is feared that he could be out for several months if knee ligament damage is confirmed.

As a result, Juventus have intensified their striker search and it appears that Toni is their chosen one.

All three of Italy's major sports papers have today claimed that the former Fiorentina ace is at the top of the outfit's wish-list.

According to some sources, Juventus already made contact with Toni's agent as soon as yesterday evening.

Genoa are keen on offloading Toni after he has failed to convince President Enrico Preziosi of his ability.

Signed on a free transfer from Bayern Munich in the summer, Toni was handed a €4m a year deal at Marassi until 2012.

Although Genoa want to get rid of the 2006 World Cup winner, there is one potential stumbling block.

Preziosi wants to sell Toni to a club outright, whereas Juve director general Beppe Marotta is keen to only net the veteran on a six-month loan.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Toni may not be the only forward who arrives in Turin this month.

They insist that Palermo's Massimo Maccarone and Udinese's Antonio Floro Flores are also being monitored.
