Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta confirms Leonardo Bonucci wants to return from Milan but “we have a full squad, especially in defence”.

The centre-back left the Bianconeri last summer, but he now wants to return to Turin just 12 month after the €40m deal.

“It all started because we cordially met with Leonardo [Milan’s general manager] and studied some things,” Marotta explained to Sky.

The centre-back left the Bianconeri last summer, but he now wants to return to Turin just 12 month after the €40m deal.

“It all started because we cordially met with Leonardo [Milan’s general manager] and studied some things,” Marotta explained to Sky.

“He told us what Bonucci was thinking, and he spoke well of his years at Juventus. Milan only told us what the player feels.

“Right now we have a full squad, especially in defence. The relationship with Bonucci is based on mutual respect, but for now I wouldn’t go any further.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has signed for the Old Lady, and it’s widely expected that Gonzalo Higuain will be sold to make way for the Portuguese.

“We are proud to have brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, an extraordinary player, thanks also to our President [Andrea] Agnelli.

“As for Higuain, he’s an important player for us but it’s normal that now there’s a lot of competition in his position we’re talking to him and trying to decide what’s the best solution for everyone.

“On our part there’s huge respect for the player.”
