Juventus have already verbally agreed a five-year contract with Cristiano Giuntoli but his situation at Napoli has pushed them to discuss their plans internally.

The 51-year-old sporting director has been with the Partenopei since 2015 and was a key architect of their Scudetto success this season, helping bring in new stars like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Kim Min-Jae.

Unfortunately for Napoli fans, things began to change after the club’s Scudetto was secured, with tension brewing between president Aurelio De Laurentiis and Luciano Spalletti. In the background, various media reports detailed how Giuntoli was keen to leave Campania in the summer in order to join Juventus.

Gianluca Di Marzio details how Giuntoli has verbally agreed to a five-year contract with Juventus, but still hasn’t confirmed a move yet due to his situation at Napoli. The director is still contracted to the club until June 2024 and De Laurentiis wants financial compensation for an early exit.

Due to this, Juventus are starting to consider their options. Giuntoli is the only external director contacted, so should the move fall through they’d find an internal solution, promoting Next Gen sporting director Giovanni Manna to the first team.

Another factor holding back a deal with Giuntoli is the Bianconeri’s off-pitch issues. The club’s management want to know exactly what their future holds before confirming anything. Coach Massimiliano Allegri has already made it clear that he’d be happy with the 51-year-old.
