Federico Bernardeschi will be out of action for at least a couple of weeks after Juventus medics diagnosed him with a groin strain.
The forward was a substitute during Italy’s 0-0 World Cup qualifier against Northern Ireland last night in Belfast.
He sustained a muscular problem and returned to Turin for tests this morning.
A statement from the club confirms a low-grade tear to the iliopsoas muscle in the right leg, which connects the hip and groin to the thigh.
Bernardeschi will have further follow-up tests to check his progress in 10 days’ time, meaning he will be out of action for at least a couple of weeks.
Juventus resume their season after the break for international duty by visiting Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in Serie A on Saturday evening.
So far this season, Bernardeschi has made 12 competitive appearances for the Bianconeri, contributing two assists, both of them in the Champions League.
