Porto’s Fredy Guarin is the latest midfielder to be linked with a possible January switch to Juventus.

The Old Lady are looking for a reinforcement in midfield to provide cover for Arturo Vidal and Claudio Marchisio.

Reports on Monday suggested that Fiorentina’s Valon Behrami and Angelo Palombo of Sampdoria were top targets, but Guarin is the new name today.

Guarin is a 25-year-old Colombian international who has been in Portugal since his 2008 move from Saint-Etienne.

The midfielder is valued between €11m and €15m, but the real problem concerns his status as a non-EU player.

The Turin giants only have one free spot in their squad for such an individual, but they are also keen on Uruguayan defender Martin Caceres.

They will thus have to make a decision on whether to target Guarin or Caceres.

The League leaders have also been linked with Roma’s David Pizarro and Cagliari ball-winner Radja Nainggolan this month.
