It is the first match since the death of club legend Vialli who passed away in London on Friday.

Juventus ultras unveiled a banner outside Curva Sud: ‘True captain. Vialli Bianconeri hero.’

There were more inside the Allianz Stadium before and during the game. One read: ‘Gianluca Vialli always with us’ and the other ‘Gianluca Vialli forever.’

There is also a giant flag with the drawing of Vialli lifting the Champions League and a number 9.

The most touching moment was when Gianluca Pessotto, a close friend and former teammate of Vialli, entered the pitch with a letter for the ex-Bianconeri captain: “We are here to tell you that we will never forget you and that we will never stop loving you,” said the ex-defender now a club director.

“You were a guide for us, on the field and off, a teammate in the locker room and in victory. A captain. A friend. I can never forget your sense of humour, your class, your charisma, your tenacity.

“Nobody can ever forget the memories you gave us with your football and your goals. We will miss your smile so much. We are here ready to embrace you, just as we were ready to embrace you in triumph.

“Bon voyage, captain. We love you.”

Pessotto had also remembered Vialli in an interview aired by DAZN before kick-off.

A minute’s silence was held before the match and the same will happen before every Serie A match this weekend.
