Inter fans have reason to celebrate seeing Juventus crash out of the Champions League, as it boosted their coffers by €13.7m, while Milan still earned more than Atalanta.

Both the Nerazzurri and Bianconeri went out of the tournament in the Round of 16 due to home defeats.

While Inter fell 2-1 on aggregate to Liverpool, Juve were thrashed 4-1 on aggregate by Villarreal.

That means there are no more Italian teams left in the Champions League going into the quarter-final stage.

We can therefore already calculate the split of the market pool that Serie A clubs will receive from television rights.

According to Calcio e Finanza, Inter will pocket €64.81m overall from the Champions League, between various bonuses, results, market pool and their historic ranking boost.

Because Juve and Inter both went out in the same round, the Nerazzurri get a larger share of the market pool, as they finished Serie A top of the table last season.

Juventus overall do get more, partly because of their historic ranking, partly as a bonus for results, picking up €78.71m.

Milan get €46.98m despite finishing bottom of their group with only one win, but Atalanta pick up just €34.24m.

Again, this is largely due to the historic ranking element.

  1. These greedy clubs get “historic ranking” privilege from UEFA and they still want to form SL.
Villareal knocking out Juventus really made my day. Bravo!

  2. Juve’s historic ranking of failures in CL!
Then tell me UEFA isn’t corrupt, I like how Agnelli milked Ceferin though!
