The Federal Court of Appeal will have its hearing on the Juventus capital gains scandal on Monday and increasing reports suggest the Serie A points penalty will be 12, a reduction from 15.

The Bianconeri are accused of artificially inflating transfer fees to boost capital gains and therefore balance the books, making it seem as if they are moving around much more valuable assets.

Although this is a technique that only works if the other clubs are in agreement over the valuation, Juve are the lone club affected because this is essentially an appeal against a previous verdict that cleared numerous teams in April 2022, reopened due to new evidence from the Prisma civil investigation.

Juve won the appeal against the 15-point penalty last month, but only sending it back to the FIGC Federal Court of Appeal for a new evaluation.

The essential basics of the guilt were confirmed, so the Old Lady will face a points penalty, it is only reduced because some of the board of directors including Pavel Nedved were cleared of wrongdoing.

Over the last few weeks, it was assumed that would be nine points, which is originally what the FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chinè had requested.

However, the Corriere dello Sport maintains today that the court is inclined to again raise the bar to 12 points, considering Juve’s recidivist and systematic behaviour to be worthy of greater punishment.

That would take Juve from their current 69 points and second place to 57 and eighth.
