Juventus are worried after Wojciech Szczesny was stretchered off during the Serie A match against Spezia, falling heavily onto his ankle.

The goalkeeper had taken a leap to pluck a corner out of the air, but dropped it and screamed as he landed badly on his right ankle.

Replays show that it visibly twisted as he landed, his whole weight going over the leg, so he will be fortunate if the Poland international has avoided ligament damage.

It was immediately clear that he had been hurt and within a couple of minutes was stretchered off to make way for Mattia Perin.

The shot-stopper had already missed the first few games of the Serie A season due to a muscular issue, only replacing Perin for the 1-1 draw with Roma last week.

It is a blow for the Bianconeri, who are already dealing with an injury crisis for Leonardo Bonucci, Angel Di Maria, Paul Pogba, Federico Chiesa and Kaio Jorge.

  1. Perin’s a great shot stopper but he lacks in corners and ball distribution as you seen in the past few games.
