Juventus are reportedly close to an agreement for Fluminense midfielder Gerson, but competitors still exist.

The Bianconeri's interest in the young Brazilian dates as far back as last summer, when the South American club were reported to have turned down an initial offer for €9m.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, however, the Turin side are on the verge of reaching an agreement to secure the youngster’s summer transfer for €11m.

Gerson’s club hold 60 per cent of his contract, whilst investors hold the remaining 40 per cent.

The Gazzetta reports that among this latter group is an investment fund linked to Manchester City, who are speculated as capable of complicating the deal.

Gianluca Di Marzio’s site further reports that the player's father is in Italy this week and yesterday met with Juventus officials.

However, Di Marzio's site adds that he will be meeting with Inter counterparts today as well, suggesting that the deal may not be entirely secured even against Italian competitors.
