Former Juventus striker Vincenzo Iaquinta believes his old side can do well in the Champions League this season.

The Bianconeri qualified for the Last 16 on Tuesday night, following a group stage elimination last season, and Iaquinta sees signs of progress.

“The more Juventus progress, the better they’ll do,” the former striker told Tuttomercatoweb.

“They’ve got solid foundations, and they can do well in Europe too.

“When you get to the knockout stage, there are two games. Real Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are four big teams, you’ll always have to play big teams.

“It will be difficult for Juventus, but also for whoever they play. When you get to the business end of the competition, luck is also a deciding factor.

“Even if they played Monaco it wouldn’t be a walk in the park. Maybe it would be best to meet a big team right away.

“When you play a team which is maybe not as strong on paper, you can go on to the pitch not playing as hard and you can look bad.

“It happened in my career.”
